If you are suffering from low confidence that good news is there are a number of steps you can take to improve things. Remember that you never have to be set in one place in terms of your mental state of mind or progress in life. Things can always get better and you already possess every attribute and characteristic needed to make powerful changes. You can do tremendous things on your own behalf to build confidence and recognize all of the things that make you great. It might seem difficult at first, but confidence building is a process that requires you to put effort into it. You will be rewarded with a more positive frame of mind and your world will open up as a result. Imagine how freeing it will be not to have to worry about what other people think or how you will react in certain situations. That’s exactly what you will be able to experience from life if you take the time to build your confidence in a healthy way.

Breathing – this is a very basic thing you can do when things are getting hectic or overwhelming. It’s important to be able to relax yourself to prevent negative thoughts from dominating your mind. Whether you are in an uncomfortable situation or in the middle of a barrage of negative thoughts, it’s nice to be able to step back and take a few deep breaths. This will calm your physical state which will in turn relax your mental one. Take some time to learn proper breathing techniques that you can use at any time of the day.

Visualization – humans are incredibly visual creatures and we think in terms of images more than we realize. It’s very important to be able to conjure up positive images in our mind without limiting ourselves to a strict future. You can use visualization techniques to prepare yourself for uncomfortable situations or to imagine that you are succeeding in a given scenario. It helps to keep you organized as well as interjecting positive energy into the situation.

Positive Affirmations – positive affirmations are not just corny sentences that you repeat yourself endlessly. You have an incredible amount of choice as to which positive affirmations you want to use. Try to pick things that apply to your own life, and don’t be afraid to make up your own. These can be incredibly powerful statements that help to keep you grounded or provide power whenever you are feeling a bit off. They can help to reinforce positive thoughts that will take the place of your negative ones.

Keep a Journal – it’s hard to keep track of everything especially when you are also trying to get by in your regular life. A Journal or diary isn’t just something that a teenage girl keeps under her bed. You can use it to great effect in a number of ways or simply just to keep track of things. It can be a place where you record your thoughts or a place where you can vent. The great thing about a Journal is there are no rules and you can use it however you like in order to document your progress. Sometimes it helps to look back after a period of time and realize that you’ve actually come a long way.

Hypnosis – hypnosis comes along with a lot of stereotypes but it doesn’t always involve staring into someone’s watch as it swings in front of you. With the help of somebody who knows about this field, it can be an incredibly relaxing way to calm yourself and reflect on your inner mind. You might even be able to use it with therapy to discover some of your innermost thoughts and how to improve upon them.

Physical Exercise – your body and mind are intimately connected and it only makes sense that working on one will benefit the other. Physical exercise is good for you in a number of ways whether you want to feel better about yourself or simply want to get fit. It can help to balance out your inner chemistry while giving you more energy as well. You can also feel great about setting goals and accomplishing them, and let’s not forget the fact that regular exercise is going to have a beneficial impact on your appearance. No one says that you have to start hiking over mountains or swimming across lakes, but even a minimal amount of exercise can be incredibly helpful.

Spend Time with a Friend – people absorb energy from others around them, and it can be a great help if you have good friends that you can spend time with. One of the biggest problems that people with low confidence have is having friends who might not be healthy for them. They may only feel right when their friends put them down or they might not have the courage to make the types of friends they deserve. But if you happen to have truly good friend then make sure to reach out and connect with them. If not, then you might want to make finding new good friends one of your goals to set for the future.

Make a Profile – do you know what you truly think of yourself? A good indication is if you practice making a profile or biography. You can think of it as something similar to creating an online dating profile, but of course you don’t have to use it for that purpose. But think about your key characteristics and what you would choose to share with somebody who you’ve never met before. It helps to know what you would like to highlight and what you might leave out. It can be a great way to get an accurate snapshot of your own self-image in addition to the one you wish to portray to others. No one has to see this profile so be as honest as possible while making it comprehensive and complete.

Take a Class – education is a powerful thing and it can be incredibly empowering. Go ahead and see if there is a night school class that you might be interested in, or maybe even something more full-time. Learning about different things can be a great way to take you out of your own mind while expanding your horizons at the same time. It will also put you into contact with people with similar interests and it automatically gives you something to talk about.

Immersion – taking risks is an integral part of confidence building, and it’s important to face your fears whenever you can. Immersing yourself in the things that make you feel uncomfortable will be very difficult at first. But you’ll find that nothing you do is ever going to kill you, and you can make a tremendous amount of progress if you keep at it while learning how to be confident. It might involve saying hello to a total stranger or forcing yourself to make a phone call even though it makes you uncomfortable. Every time you do one of these little things, it builds up your mental endurance and makes the same activity last scary in the future.
